Kindergarten is the best! If you are looking for your child to improve their fine motor muscles, pencil grip and handwriting, while mastering their letter sounds and numbers, this class is the one!  Interactive Math and Reading Stories, access to the "Secret Stories" that explain why letters make different sounds when they come together with other letters, counting, number formation and writing will be our focus! Perfect for first graders who need extra support in foundational skills as well!

Integrated Learning: Math & Literacy
Grades 1 & 2

Crossing the curriculum by integrating Literacy and Math?  YES, Please! Incorporating math into the literacy lesson helps students gain skills for reading many kinds of texts. Bringing reading, writing, and talking into the math lesson supports the development of conceptual knowledge and problem solving, in addition to computational skills. Math skills will cover addition and subtraction - both core areas for first and second graders to master.

Interactive Read-Alouds: Complementing our math lesson with books based on the particular skill
Using Reading Strategies to Decoding and Solving Word Problems: Questioning, predicting, inferring, visualizing and using fix-up strategies can all be applied to reading AND math!
Secret Stories:  Shhhh! We will learn the "secret" reasons WHY certain letters go together, making us stronger readers, writers and mathematicians
Reader's Theater Based on Math Concepts: Using scripts to learn about math concepts...Fluency, Comprehension and Math..Oh My!

$250 for 6 Tuesdays from 4:00 - 6:00 (Starting January 11th)
